Modular Permaculture Design Certificate 2009-2010

June 2009 - Feb 2010, Taranaki
This Permaculture Design Certificate is run over 8 weekends.
To receive your Certificate you need to attend at least 7 weekends, including Philosophy and Design, and finishing with Design Project. Or, you can attend any weekends you are interested in, without receiving a certificate.
Practical hands-on emphasis: Each weekend will include at least one hands-on project to build peoples’ practical skills, enhance learning, and have fun !

Venue. Most of the weekends will be held at the Taranaki Environment Centre at 20 Kauri Street in Inglewood.
Participants are encouraged to stay overnight at the venue on the Saturday night, to develop the sense of community within the course, and to reduce vehicle travel. Bed & breakfast will cost $10.

Meals. Morning & afternoon tea are provided. Bring a dish for a shared potluck lunch.
You are welcome to stay for dinner on Saturday night for $10.
The food provided is organic and locally grown as much as possible.

Course Fees.
Course fee for Certificate participants: $75 per weekend.
Course fee for other participants: $95 per weekend.
We welcome fortnightly or weekly automatic payments at an amount that suits you.

Sabine will take you through all the stages of processing and storing cheese, using simple equipment that you will find in most kitchens.
There will be ample opportunity to sample the produce.

SAUSAGES & SMALL GOODS

Wolf Heipe $110
Wolf will show the process of making a range of traditional organic sausages and small goods, using a variety of meats, herbs and spices with low-tech equipment.
Both workshops will be held in Wolf and Sabine’s kitchen in their amazing earth
house at the Otamatea Eco Village. We always receive excellent feedback from
Wolf and Sabine’s workshop.

EARTHBUILDING WORKSHOP

Course topics to be confirmed, but may include:

* Experiment with earthen plasters, natural paints and sealants
* Build walls and furniture from adobe brick, cob, light-earth and wattle-and-daub
* Lay a small adobe tile floor
* Sculpt a pizza oven
* Do artwork such as mosaics and reliefs
* Learn more about basic earthbuilding and professional techniques
* Visit a commercial adobe brick manufacture
