The boutique vineyard home-stay Straw Lodge is housed in a unique straw-bale building nestled amongst the Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir vines of Barrow's Vineyard. Situated on a working vineyard on the beautiful, world renowned wine producing river flats of the Wairau Valley, it provides superbly designed and private 5 Star B&B accommodation. There are self-catering facilities plus meal options and wonderful restaurants close by. This is a unique service. It combines accommodation, a working vineyard, home-cooked and fresh home-grown produce, a taste of wine from the vineyard and the option to be professionally guided or advised on individually designed wine, trekking, cycling, walking, fishing, skiing, discovery, craft or gourmet trails of Marlborough. Available all year round.

Tariff includes a continental or cooked breakfast and complimentary tasting of the vineyard's wine.

In the evening you may choose to dine at one of the many fine restaurants that are located within a short drive, or self-cater using the guest kitchen or BBQ courtyards. You also have the option of joining your hosts for a full three course dinner with wine @ $90.00 p.p., or a platter for two @ $60.00 with wine available. A complimentary laundry service is also available.

Tariff includes a continental or cooked breakfast, complimentary tasting of the vineyard's wine, wireless broadband internet connection plus the use of a guest lap top as well as use of the Lodge's off-road and battery assisted bikes. Also available are golf clubs, an out-door spa, BBQ areas, guest kitchen/dining area, petanque, courtyards and grounds, a lounge area with open fire and Sky TV.

You will be welcome to stroll in the vineyard and observe the every day workings of growing fine Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes.

Directions

When driving to Straw Lodge from:

CHRISTCHURCH/ KAIKOURA

* Driving north on SH1 you will enter Blenheim. Signage at the first roundabout will direct you right towards NELSON/ PICTON/ WELLINGTON FERRY.
* Proceed over the bridge, through the next roundabout and you will then observe the Information Center and Railway Station to your right and a Mobil Service Station opposite. At this intersection follow the signage left towards NELSON, SH6.
* You will then drive through the outskirts of Blenheim and past the Blenheim Airport. After the airport, at the second intersection to your left, follow the signage left towards WESTPORT/WAIRAU VALLEY, SH63.
* Approximately 7kms down SH63, after this very straight road curves, turn right into FAREHAM LANE. Straw Lodge's entrance is 200m down Fareham Lane on your left.
* Total drive time from Blenheim to Straw Lodge is Approximately 17 mins.


NELSON

* Travelling from Nelson on SH6 on the outskirts of Blenheim you will enter the small town of Renwick. Before the Renwick shopping area signage will direct you right towards WESTPORT/ WESTCOAST, SH63.
* Turning right here into Anglesea St. will soon take you to a T intersection. Turn right into SH 63 towards WESTPORT/ WESTCOAST/ WAIRAU VALLEY.
* Drive approx 5 1/2 kms and soon after this very straight road curves, turn right into FAREHAM LANE. Straw Lodge's entrance is 200m down Fareham Lane on your left.


PICTON

* Travelling south from PICTON on SH1 you will enter Blenheim. At the roundabout, with a Mobil service station on your right and the Information Center and Blenheim Railway Station on your left, turn right to follow the signs towards NELSON, SH 6.
* You will then drive through the outskirts of Blenheim and past the Blenheim Airport. After the airport, at the second intersection to your left, follow the signage left towards WESTPORT/WAIRAU VALLEY, SH 63.
* Approximately 7 kms down SH 63 and soon after this very straight road curves, turn right into FAREHAM LANE. Straw Lodge's entrance is 200m down Fareham Lane on your left.
* Total drive time from Blenheim to Straw Lodge is Approximately 17 mins.


MURCHISON/ WEST COAST

* Travelling east on SH 63 towards Blenheim you will pass through the small village of Wairau Valley. Approximately 15 mins drive from here you will cross the Waihopai River bridge. FAREHAM LANE is the next side road to your left. Straw Lodge's entrance is 200m down Fareham Lane on your left.
