Organic Explorer has carved out a name for itself as a comprehensive resource for travellers seeking eco-friendly experiences in New Zealand.

Through its website and travel guides, it has provided travellers with an abundance of information about everything from organic cafe's and eco-lodges to nature tourism and Maori cultural experiences.

But Organic Explorer’s efforts have gone further than just informing travellers about the variety of eco-friendly experiences available in New Zealand. It has also helped raise international awareness of New Zealand as a visitor destination.

Eco-tourism experiences feature on many international visitors’ holiday plans and that will only increase Organic Explorer’s relevance to visitors and local eco-tourism businesses.

Full Description

Pottsbury Farm is a twelve acre organic Orchard specialising in sub-tropical fruits. Nestled among the trees and bird song are two private and secluded Holiday Homes.

As an organic orchard there are no sprays or chemicals used. Worm leachate and castings from the worm farm are the main means of orchard maintenance. The Holiday Homes are situated only a few minutes walk from the beach which affords safe, shallow water for children.

There is a wonderful range of coastal walks and near by Kauri Point offers a popular jetty for fishing or swimming. We are situated on the northern edge of the Tauranga Harbour in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Available all year round.

Self catering, there are full kitchen facilities in both holiday homes.

Facilities

The 2 Holiday Homes - Rathfardon and Clonroche - are both fully equipped with air-conditioning, fridge/freezer, automatic stove and TV and video.
Clonroche has a dishwasher as well.

There are two bedrooms in each - one double the other twin. There is a gas barbecue and outdoor furniture with each and in summer guests are invited to swim in our pool.

Each home has peaceful orchard views and one wakens to the sound of birds. The extensive shoreline of the Tauranga harbour and the safe little Ongare Point beach can be reached in a few minutes amble.

There is wheelchair access in 1 of the homes.

No Smoking, no cats or dogs.

Directions

Katikati and Ongare Point are a two hour drive south east of Auckland and half an hour north of Tauranga.
Ongare Point is 10 minutes drive north of Katikati.

From Waihi:

Travel through Athenree Gorge, glimpse Tauranga Harbour, proceed past Tuapiro Point Road.
Turn left into Kauri Point Road (Ongare Point Road on small blue finger sign underneath this signpost)
Proceed to fork and take left arm of fork to Ongare Point Road.
Orchard is 2.44 kms from that junction.
Entrance next right after Welcome to Ongare Point sign (approximately 100 metres), drive down through the large old gum trees to the farm buildings and take little concrete ramp signposted -- Thelma and John -- to left for a welcome.

From Katikati:

Proceed north over bridge over Tahawai Stream then up hill to median strip off to Kauri Point Road and then see above.
