Other Environment Friendly InitiativesOur central building was designed by Graeme North and utilitises solar power and solar hot water as well as 2 wetbacks for extra winter warmth, and the vermicast septic system can support up to 80 people a day* Our gardens are the core of Te Henga Studios and we grow to feed the collective including our visitors. This work is greatly assisted by many willing workers from the international WWOOFing community, and we have plans for major projects such as creating a food forest and restoring our wetland. Founded on the principles of permaculture, creativity and well-being, our place is ideal for both: relaxation and inspiration.

DirectionsApproximately 40 minutes from Aucklands CBD and 50 minutes from the airport. Take the North Western Motorway - Highway 16, and turn into Lincoln Road (the one after the Te Atatu turn off). Once on Lincoln Road turn right at the second set of lights on Universal Drive. Follow Universal Drive through to the roundabout and take the second exit - this will take you through to the Swanson township (being the last shop stop for any groceries you might need). Carry on the main road up the Scenic Drive and go past “Cassells restaurant” on your left and then turn right on to Te Henga Road. This road will run straight into Bethells Road. Continue straight ahead on Bethells Road towards the beach, and follow the road to the number 130 ( aprox. 1km, just past Bethells Fire Station). Drive up the driveway and follow “parking” sign. Someone will be there to welcome you! *Please notify us of any change to your agreed arrival time, if necessary. ** If you are not driving – please contact us to organise a pick up from Swanson train station Shuttle bus service can be organised for groups.
