Journey to the Protected Queen Elizabeth II National Trust paradise of Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary, a Podocarp Native Rainforest with trees over 500 years old. You will be treated as VIP’s by the warm and welcoming hosts, Tim and Debbie Short and daughters.

All guests receive a hearty English/Continental breakfast and a guided evening Glow Worm Tour to a natural forest fairyland for an up close experience with these unique native luminous lights. Be invigorated with nature’s elixir, - pure spring water from the Sanctuary. Feel the awe inspiring energy of stunning romantic sunsets and the crystal night skies of distant galaxies. Receive the relaxing therapy of awakening to native bird song – Tui, Piwakawaka (fantail), Bellbird, Kereru (woodpigeon), Waxeye, Grey Warbler, Kaka, Shining Cuckoo, Pukeko and Paradise Duck etc. At night listen to the haunting call of the native owl Morepork (ruru) and by day be at peace while watching the hypnotic soaring of Harrier Hawke’s and the preying Bush Falcon.

At Mount Tutu Eco-Sanctuary you can go on tranquil bush walks; enjoy the large garden, meandering pathways, wetland areas and many secluded seats and vistas. You can handfeed the inquisitive closed flock of heritage Mount Tutu Sheep that are piebald with majestic horns. You will arrive as strangers and after your special experience leave as friends feeling refreshed with a spring in your step.
