Welcome to Kawakawa Station Walk - the home of one of the Wairarapa's oldest sheep stations and the North Island's southern most farm walk - and - as seen on Country Calendar! Kawakawa Station walk offers a 3 day, 3 night walk through farmland and bush, encompassing sweeping Cook Strait and South Island views, comfortable accommodation and great food.

Kawakawa Station Walk is a family owned and operated walk over our private land.  Your hosts, the Furniss Family, warmly welcome you to this amazing corner of coastal New Zealand.

This unique 3 day 3 night walk is a fulfilling walk taking in the breathtaking coastal views across the Cook Strait to the snow capped Kaikouras.  Beautiful native bush, spectacular river valleys and an abundance of wildlife make this a very picturesque walk.

Staying in cosy, comfortable farm accommodation along with all the mod cons, all your meals are taken care of (unless you decide on the self catered option). The food is locally inspired, sourced and produced that certainly wont leave you hungry!

So what are you waiting for?  Give us a try for your next escape to the wilderness

Hello Sarah and Duncan

This email is to say a belated thank you to you both for the fabulous, if somewhat damp, walk a couple of weeks ago. In spite of missing out on the views, we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was so well organised, and the food and accommodation absolutely spot on. And we were extremely grateful to Duncan for coming to rescue us and so patiently walking us safely out.

Thank you also for organising to get our bags back to us.

Thanks again and kind regards

Hi Sarah

We were part of the group of 4 who did your farm walk last week and are writing to let you know how much we enjoyed the experience. We loved the isolation, 'getting away from it all' - not meeting other walkers along the way and the silences at night - have been telling all our friends!

We particularly liked the variety of tracks each day - the bulldozer road, bush track, pasture crossings and finally the 9 river crossings on the last morning - challenges but do-able for this group in their 60's.

The accommodation was excellent each night. I must admit it was lovely just lying on the bunk at night and looking out at the sky and the hills.

The food was superb throughout - obviously much thought has gone into the menu - even variety in the lunches and a pavlova!

The whole set up is very well organised - luggage transfers, beds made up and even our booze in the fridge.

We highly recommend this walk.

Regards,

Lesley and Alan Brennan

PS Would the chef share the recipe for the luscious lemon cake? I once tried a recipe and I think it's the one where lemon juice is poured over once it's baked but mine didn't turn out so moist.

November 2013 - We finished this walk yesterday and loved every minute. The scenery is stunningly spectacular, the food is superb - and the accommodation and transport are excellent. You have put so much effort into planning this walk - and it shows. Some measure of fitness is required, as at times this walk is challenging. However each day is vastly different from the day before, and always enjoyable and interesting. Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Best wishes and good luck for the future.
