Welcome to New Zealand at its Best

Organic Explorer has carved out a name for itself as a comprehensive resource for travellers seeking eco-friendly experiences in New Zealand.

Through its website and travel guides, it has provided travellers with an abundance of information about everything from organic cafe's and eco-lodges to nature tourism and Maori cultural experiences.

But Organic Explorer’s efforts have gone further than just informing travellers about the variety of eco-friendly experiences available in New Zealand. It has also helped raise international awareness of New Zealand as a visitor destination.

Eco-tourism experiences feature on many international visitors’ holiday plans and that will only increase Organic Explorer’s relevance to visitors and local eco-tourism businesses.

Full Description

See some of New Zealand's rarest native animals thriving in the wild and discover 80 million years of natural history brought to life with state of the art multimedia exhibits at this award-winning, world-first eco-attraction.

THE EXHIBITION: Step back 1,000 years to the 'day before humans arrived'. Stand face to face with the long lost giants of the bird world - the 10 foot high moa and the man-eating Haast's eagle.

THE SANCTUARY VALLEY: Step outside into the world's first fully-fenced urban eco-sanctuary. Our 500-year vision is to restore the sanctuary valley as close as possible to its pre-human state. Watch and listen for over 30 species of native birds and reptiles, including tuatara, saddleback, hihi, kaka, kakariki, takahe and many more. For a chance of spotting little spotted kiwi though, you'll have to come at night!

ZEALANDIA BY NIGHT: Begin your adventure with guided highlights of The Exhibition. Then, as darkness falls, follow your guide into the sanctuary valley to search for little spotted kiwi. Over 100 kiwi call our valley home, so there's a really good chance of spotting one!

RATA CAFE: Relax and enjoy local fare overlooking the forest-fringed lake. Being environmentally-sustainable and socially responsible is a no brainer for us. So we only use free range pork, chicken and eggs. Our fruit and veggies are seasonal and locally-sourced wherever possible. Our milk is organic and all our coffee is organic and fair trade. All our packaging is biodegradable and even our cleaning products are friendly to the environment.
