Beer is made up of over 90% water. The quality of the water has long been recognised for its contribution in making good tasting beer. MATA beer is brewed using Certified Organic Artesian Water which we transport specially into our brewery. The final beer does not contain only organic ingredients. MATA beers, naturally brewed, are clean and pure. No preservatives, additives, finings, animal products or added sugars, are used and is GE Free. MATA is the only beer in NZ to have all its ingredients and processes certified by the NZ Vegetarian Society Trademark Approval Programme. MATA MANUKA Gold Medal: NZ International Beer Awards 2007 Class Winner: NZ International Beer Awards 2007 Bronze Medal: BrewNZ Awards 2007 MATA MANUKA is a clean, smooth tasting golden coloured ale edged with a hint of New Zealand's native Manuka honey. MATA Manuka is a unique beer which has its own distinctive flavour. Light honey notes and a slight residual sweetness. Hallertau Aroma which is grown in the sunny Nelson Region of New Zealand. MATA FEJOA is a palate cleansing, sprizty, fruit ale edged with the unique taste of NZ Grown Feijoa. This beer is new and will be released in late October 2008. Kawerau is between Rotorua and Whakatane. If heading from Rotorua we are 40 mins towards Whakatane or if towards Rotorua from Whakatane keep an eye out after 20mins for a road sign to turn in to Kawerau. Once in Kawerau ask any local where Aotearoa Breweries or MATA Beer is brewed, I am sure you will find us.
