But Organic Explorer’s efforts have gone further than just informing travellers about the variety of eco-friendly experiences available in New Zealand. It has also helped raise international awareness of New Zealand as a visitor destination.

Harvest Wholefoods is a well established institution at the heart of the Grey Lynn community. Staffed by knowledgeable and friendly people, a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere pervades the store. Harvest offers quality organic certified produce, natural and organic bulk goods, packaged grains and flours, eco-friendly cleaning products, organic grocery items and pet food. Fresh each day there is a selection of organic breads, hot pies, cakes and muffins, sushi and salads. Being a vegetarian super store there is a vast range of specialty products catering for those whose food styles are gluten, sugar and animal free. A well stocked naturopathic department and herbal dispensary is supported by a complimentary naturopathic service. There is a range of books and magazines on health and lifestyle topics too. Harvest prides itself on upholding the highest principles of food integrity. All products on the shelves have been checked to ensure they contain no genetically modified organisms, nor are they chemically treated, contain MSG, conventional eggs or any other questionable ingredients. Harvest supports Fair Trade where possible. Customers are encouraged to bring in their own bags, recycle egg cartons and be conscious about their connection to the wider environment. There is a refill service available for bulk goods such as tamari, honey, olive oil, vinegar & laundry liquid to support this. Harvest is a meeting place for like minded people, as well as providing information on relevant topics and a noticeboard of community events. Each year Fair Trade Fortnight, World Vegetarian Day and World Vegan Day are brought to the customer's awareness.  All customers and enquiries are welcome. Harvest is here to support, promote and provide food for those who care for what they eat. The two other associated stores “Huckleberry Farms are at 240 Greenlane Road, Greenlane West, and 151 Apirana Road, Glen Innes. Both stock a range of organic meat and fish. Mail orders are available through the Glenn Innes store.

Directions

From the city catch an 025 or an 027 bus from Queen Street and get off at the West Lynn shops. If driving along Ponsonby Road, turn down Richmond Road. We are next door to Mamata Bakery.

If coming in from the West, take the Point Chevalier exit, come along Great North Road, turn left into the Bullock track, then left into Old Mill Road, then right into Francis Street and then left into Richmond Road.
