I was lucky, when I rang for the shop for an enquiry and after waiting for an age got a cherpy young lady who was very helpful. Five stars.

Unfortunately, service in the shop paft can be hit and miss. Most staff are great, but one can always find a way of appearing busy, so will leave you waiting to purchase your selection.

Perhaps competition would change their attitude?

Replying to Lynn and Barry
It seems that the staff at the cafe have the same attitude as the ones that answer queries over the phone.
In your case, she sounds uninterested and certainly not very brainy. She is not doing a job, just going through the motions. Had the same type of uninterested answers over the phone, what is it, poor pay? poor training? or both?

We were visiting from Tauranga. This cafe looked great. However we were rather disappointed by the attitide of one staff member who served us at the counter. Very offhand , obviously a bit stressed by the busyness of the moment as there were other people waiting to order behind us.We asked for the wifi password and the lady replied botanicsplural. Now , we did not quite understand what she meant by this so queried further. She replied it's botanicsplural, people think it's botanics with an x but it's not. It's botanicsplural. We then spelt it out DO YOU MEAN b-o-t-a-n-i-c-s-p-l-u-r-a-l . At this she rolled her eyes, roughly grabbed a bit of paper and wrote is down. "botanics" Yes, that seems simple to most when written down, but honestly, would YOU understand what she meant if she said botanicsplural to you? We are intelligent people but plural could mean a plus sign (+), or botanics written twice, or a number of other meanings. It would be simpler for the cafe to have a printout of the wifi password to simply hand people with their coffee receipt. We were disappointed with the female staff members attitide, considered asking for a refund of our $34 and going elsewhere but in the end decided it wasn't worth the hassle. Despite all this, the food and coffee was great but with the competition available, we think this cafe needs to address other aspects besides the food and coffee.. We think the management of this cafe need to do a lot more staff training if they want their clientel to continue growing. We would welcome a response to this by management if they care to do so. bandljames@xtra.co.nz

Go to place vegetarian lunch alternatives and supplements. Great range - just got some rose scented coconut oil and it's divine. Naturopath friend also only stocks up here. Great coffee (flight and origin combo can't be beat) and fab service.

We have come here weekly for what we considered the best coffee in Napier. Today (Tuesday 1st April) was a different story. Totally different staff who were in panic mode with only about 12 customers. My husband's coffee was burnt and he could not drink it. We both ordered muffins which arrived cold and on a very small plate. We asked for them to be heated but they tasted very doughy and bland so we were unable to eat them. Usually our coffee and food are both very good. I have to wonder why all the staff are new at the same time and did not appear to have leadership. Two other customers at adjoining tables were having problems with their orders at the same time. With regret we will be carefully considering where we buy our next coffee. Disappointing.
