The Millton Vineyard produce distinctive and harmonised estate grown, hand harvested wines from each individual vineyard. Due to the biodynamic inputs as well as the hands-on approach of James and Annie Millton, these wines show a true and sincere expression of terroir.

After over 28 years in pursuit of excellence, The Millton Vineyard have further developed their vineyard plantings to concentrate on those varieties, not only suited to the soils and location of the region, but those wine s they get enjoyment from when drinking and which stimulate the taste senses and food matching. These wines consist of Chardonnay (astringent), Riesling (sweet), Chenin Blanc (acid) and Viognier (salt) for white wine. Malbec and Syrah for red wine and Pinot Noir for adventure. The near future will se e the addition of more noise to the orchestra coming from the plantings of Muscat a Petit Grains, Marsanne, Petit Mansang and Gewurztraminer and derivatives of Malbec and Syrah.

All wines are grown biodynamically, harvested by hand, produced and bottled on the property. This involves growing the grapes without the use of herbicide, insecticide, systemic fungicides or soluble fertilisers. It also incorporates the use of special herbal preparations and teas as well as a deep understanding of the complex cosmic rhythms, which affect these daily activities. In the cellar the use of synthetic agents is forbidden and the use of animal products, cultured yeasts and introduced bacteria is minimised.

All our wines are cold sterile bottled on the property. This is quite significant in this country of “virtual wine production” Our bottles are then bottle aged in bin f or a period of time before being finally checked for quality and then labeled and packaged by hand before distribution. All Clos de Ste. Anne wines are still closed with the very best natural corks while Millton wines are moving more steadily into screwcap.
