Welcome to New Zealand at its Best

Organic Explorer has carved out a name for itself as a comprehensive resource for travellers seeking eco-friendly experiences in New Zealand.

Through its website and travel guides, it has provided travellers with an abundance of information about everything from organic cafe's and eco-lodges to nature tourism and Maori cultural experiences.

But Organic Explorer’s efforts have gone further than just informing travellers about the variety of eco-friendly experiences available in New Zealand. It has also helped raise international awareness of New Zealand as a visitor destination.

Eco-tourism experiences feature on many international visitors’ holiday plans and that will only increase Organic Explorer’s relevance to visitors and local eco-tourism businesses.

Full Description

You will see timeless landscapes, ancient volcanoes and pohutukawa trees, and dramatic coastlines - all set against the backdrop of the island-studded Hauraki Gulf and the Pacific Ocean.  The views are breathtaking.

Come with us to the Coromandel Coastal Walkway, a one day tour including transport and an 8km walk on an old bridle path above the coast.  We will collect you from your accommodation in Coromandel town, or nearby, at 8.30am, and bus you to the top of the peninsula over winding roads fringed with pohutukawa trees.  We stop for tea or coffee at the Green Snapper Cafe in Colville if you wish, or we may have a picnic on the beach at Port Jackson.  We sometimes follow pods of dolphins or orca just a few metres from the road!

We will give you an informative commentary on the history, geology and ecology of the area plus Maori legends, and an overview of our very successful conservation efforts.  You may also hear some local gossip!

From Fletchers Bay you begin your 3-4 hour self-guided walk to Stony Bay.  (Or you may stay on the bus for the scenic drive.)  There we meet you with refreshments, and take you back to Coromandel town arriving approximately 5pm-6pm.

Bring -  your LUNCH, sunscreen and hat, good walking shoes, swimsuit and towel in summer, suitable clothing for the   season.

CHARTERS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE  around the northern Coromandel, just tell us where you would like to go!

Currently we have a QUALMARK ENDORSEMENT, and a QUALMARK ENVIRO-SILVER AWARD, meaning we meet high levels of environmental and social responsibility.
We encourage all travellers to donate a kauri tree, to be planted by KAURI 2000 as part of the Coromandel's kauri forest restoration.
We have also received a traveller-voted RANKERS WEBSITE AWARD for excellence 2 years in a row.

What an amazing experience! The Coromandel Coastal Walkway is a wonderful tour from start to finish. The scenery is stunning. Barbara is a very professional driver and guide, and her knowledge of the area made the journey so special. I always knew this was a great trip and this was proved beyond a doubt. Thoroughly recommend it.

Barbara was very congenial, informative and fun! We enjoyed our walk, but enjoyed our time with her equally as much. She is very knowledgeable and has a warm, welcoming personality. Thanks so much.

Perfect day! Great scenery of the walk/ride is the highlight. Opportunity to know about the area (past and present), plus nature and conservation, which of course is such a big part of NZ - everyone should be told about it.

A very very pleasant journey. Barbara is very nice and explains all very well. We have done a lot of tours with other companies in New Zealand, it's the first time we understand all the driver says. All is well organised and did with a lot of attentions.

Our highlights were: the safe driving, the scenery, the stories, the views, the walk. Everything was beautiful. A day with a golden edge. Thank you so much.

This is a fantastic product. I have travelled extensively and taken part in many day tours throughout the world. Our guide Barbara was great, she gave a very informative commentary without talking flat out, and it was very interesting. It actually got me feeling very passionate about the Coromandel.
