The book is a terrific collection of New Zealand eco travel experiences ranging from well-known major operators to hidden gems throughout the country.

Featherstone offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, with our two double guest rooms looking into the garden. Each room has its own entrance through French doors opening onto decking. We are situated on the South West border of the city, approximately 20 minutes from the International airport, an easy starting point to explore the picturesque Banks Peninsula.
There is easy foot access to tracks on the Port hills behind us, and the Halswell Quarry Park, with walking tracks and plantings of native and exotic trees, is 5 minutes away by car.
We also offer screen printing lessons using natural fabrics and water based dyes, and have screen printed T towels and cushion covers for sale.

Protecting the Environment

For the 28 years we have lived at Featherstone, our property has been spray free. We produce most of our own fruit and vegetables, and compost all our food waste. Additional mulching supplies are sourced from our extended family farms in North Canterbury - Certified organic and Demeter. Our home is partially heated from wood grown on the property, and our bee hives are organically managed.

Coming to Featherstone B&B is being welcomed into the home of a very good friend – a place with a warm heart that offers a relaxed environment, quiet but still not far from the city. The room is nice and cozy. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast close to the fireplace looking outside into the garden covered with a thick layer of snow. If we hadn't to move on we would have stayed another night. Thanks you very much, we are sure we'll come back.
