Welcome to New Zealand at its Best

Organic Explorer has carved out a name for itself as a comprehensive resource for travellers seeking eco-friendly experiences in New Zealand.

Through its website and travel guides, it has provided travellers with an abundance of information about everything from organic cafe's and eco-lodges to nature tourism and Maori cultural experiences.

But Organic Explorer’s efforts have gone further than just informing travellers about the variety of eco-friendly experiences available in New Zealand. It has also helped raise international awareness of New Zealand as a visitor destination.

Eco-tourism experiences feature on many international visitors’ holiday plans and that will only increase Organic Explorer’s relevance to visitors and local eco-tourism businesses.

Full Description

Charles Royal is New Zealand’s answer to the reintroduction of a tradition that many had never heard of – cooking with New Zealand indigenous Mãori herbs, spices and flavours. The knowledge that is imparted by Charles on each tour is amazing – with each one always a little different. Best of all, Charles is simply fun to be around. His whãnau are inspirational – they all help out with the business, including wife Tania who has many culinary skills herself. Their children Cinny (16) and Pipi T (13) are often overheard teaching Charles more of his native language, te reo Mãori. Listen to the songs, stories and the history of where Charles’s ancestors came from thousands of years ago. Learn about local tribal history, food, plants and their medicinal properties. Visit road-side stores and sample the local produce. Charles’ food trails can include exclusive Marae (village) stays, menu consultation, camping trips, home-cooked meals and cooking demonstrations.

Other Environment Friendly Initiatives

Nature Guides Otago is a business that seeks to operate in a responsible and sustainable way.

For our tours this means:
Minimising negative impact on the environment by only taking small groups of people to sensitive nature and wildlife areas while providing educational and enjoyable experiences. We offer an opportunity for active participation in conservation.

For our base, Nisbet Cottage, this means:
Applying the motto “re-use – re-duce – re-cycle” in as many aspects as possible and providing opportunities for our guests to contribute to sustainability.
