The Old Mountaineers' Cafe, Bar, Restaurant & Historic Photographic Gallery offers organic fair trade coffee, organic food and wine and all with stunning views of Aoraki-Mount Cook. It also has a great open fire a wonderful historic mountaineering photographic gallery. It is full of the spirit and passion of the area. Recommended by Lonely Planet as 'their pick', recommended by Rough Guide and the only place in the village personally opened by Sir Edmund Hillary. His message to the owners hangs over the fireplace. Great story - the mountain spirit and companionship prevades The Old Mountaineers. Well done Charlie and Mary for "making the stand:. We enjoyed a great meal, fabulous inspiring views - wish we had more time.
