Gerry and Sally are the most thoughtful and generous hosts that you could wish for. Their B&B is in quiet back street, yet a five minute walk from the vibrant Victorian era Ponsonby Road - where you can find cafes, restaurants, galleries and designer sores in abundance.
Fantastic organic breakfasts with freshly brewed coffee are a great way to start your day, and Gerry & Sally are full of suggestions for local attractions and activities.
Highly recommended!

I travel to New Zealand often, and I always begin and end my journey with Sally and Gerry at the Great Ponsonby. The quality of one's experience depends on many things, but one of the largest factors is the people you meet. Sally James and Gerry Hill are fabulous people, committed to their guests, to the environment, and to their community. This dedication is reflected in the beautiful and unique facility that is the Great Ponsonby.

The Great Ponsonby is perfectly situated to allow for a peaceful retreat, as well as easy access to all that Auckland has to offer. Don't miss the chance to experience the Great Ponsonby...you'll be glad you did.

A beautiful, stylish and friendly B&B in a quiet street of the browsing Ponsonby, great location! Only a walking distance from all the famous restaurants, cafe's, bars and shops - Always a lot happening in and around Ponsonby. Also public transport is great for the ones that would like to explore a bit more of Auckland, just park up your car and ENJOY!
Lovely, friendly and helpful staff who all do their best to make your stay remember-able.

This place is a great example of the perfect B&B that you would like to recommend to everyone :).

We could not believe this oasis right in the middle of the city. We had scrummy organic feijoas in orange for breakfast and feijoa jam, all from their own hedges. The organic eggs were bright orange and to die for, also with fresh herbs from the garden. There is a large secluded garden where we lounged in the sun listening to tuis sing. The overall philosophy of the hosts shines through and they obviously care for the environment. They showed us their worm farm . All the products in the bathroom and the cleaning products are from the Eco store and as I have a skin allergy I am always worried about soap. The eco soap was fine.
We also loved all the art and what a great place Ponsonby is. There seemed to be more cafes and restaurants there than we saw anywhere else in New Zealand. There is a great bus service that runs around the inner city so we did not need to use our car at all and in fact we walked into the centre most days. Most of all tho we loved Gerry & Sally and their staff who could not do enough for us .
