Environmentally Friendly Aspects of the Accommodation

Wind: – power generation possibility, garage shelters the house. Therapy room and house shelter the pool area.
Sand: – used in construction, minimises importing same.
Rocks: – Rhyolite boulders unearthed, feature in landscaping and used for retaining.
Wood: – acres of self seeded pine used in open and closed fires for heat generation and ambience. A wood burning oven that boosts the solar water heater. Trees on the property are managed with native planting programmes being developed.
Water: – collected on site from 60m deep bore, filtered.
Recycle: – Eucalyptus power poles have been re-cycled as the main roof support structure and are one of the many visual features.
Concrete: – slab floors are insulated 14 times more than concrete on the ground. This prevents heat loss from the in-floor hot water slab heating system. All internal concrete slabs are fibre reinforced so as not to disturb the earth’s natural vibration.
Reinforcing: – in general concrete and plaster internally have been reinforced with polypropylene fibre or mesh.
Walls: – feature untreated framing, non-toxic polyester insulation, breathable plaster and paint.

Ceilings: – untreated Lawsons Cypress TG & V for ceilings, rafters and beams.
Doors: – solid macrocarpa doors with tung oil finish.
Wiring: – 12v DC lighting and careful consideration of wiring placement lowering overall electro-magnetic fields exposure.
Spoil: – Excavated spoil uses found for all excavated material to avoid trucking offsite to spoil dump.

The succulent roof, high quality fittings, bridge, pond, atrium, location, peace and quiet, overall design, watsu-hotpool, spa etc. enhance the overall sense of awe, wonder, appreciation and well-being.
